Welcome back - I hope everybody had a pleasant and restful Easter break. This term we will be learning about volcanoes, muscles and emotions. The children have already written poems about volcanoes - inspired by video clips from around the world as well as the recent volcanic eruption in Iceland. Here are some examples -
After sleeping for many years,
The Volcano awakes
Suddenly, rage builds in its heart
Spilling out boiling, crimson lava,
And burnt orange flames.
Villagers burnt to death or suffocated
As charcoal grey smoke attacked their lungs,
Scaring the sun away
And changing day into devastating night.
The volcano has shed its wild temper.
By Merin and Veronika
At a ginormous height the volcano sleeps,
Suddenly the magnificent volcano awakes.
Red hot lava slithers like a snake
causing death and destruction to the town below.
Solid, steaming, shooting rocks crashing to the ground.
People rushing and screaming as they escape.
By Louis, Roberto and Uzaifar
