As we have already mentioned, the class received visitors from a recycling company to talk about the importance of recycling and to make bags. The bags were a huge success with all the children.Posted are some pictures of a small sample of bags made. I only wish we could post them all onto the blog - they look great!!
Here's what Praveen had to say about the day -
Bag Day
On 28th March in the morning Y5B had two special people come to visit us from a recycling company to teach us how to recycle and reuse. We made bags out of unwanted pillow cases and old bits of clothes. We had a discussion about where the rubbish goes and how big land fills had become. They said that we could recycle old stuff or reuse it rather then putting it in the bin. We had loads of fun making bags. We made the whole class room messy! We had a competition about who would make the most people jealous by our bag. The recycling people said that if we are about 50 years old and had put a bottle at the dump when we were 5 years old, the bottle would still be there today. That made us think! We had lots of fun with them and learnt a lot.

Bag Day
On the 28th March, Y5B had two people come to visit us from a recycling company. They came in to make bags with us out of old pillow cases and bits of old clothes. We had a big discussion about why we should recycle and reuse different objects. We found out that the plastic that is used to make carrier bags takes fifty years to rot. We had loads of fun making the bags because we got to make loads of mess; unfortunately we had to tidy it up after! We made some really great bags with pictures of a natural environments glued on to them using lots of different colors. Everyone had a really great time and can’t wait to show their families what fantastic bags they made.
Now have a look at some of the bags made -
I hope everybody has a great Easter break and I'll see you all next term!
