Over the last few weeks, 6W have been watching a short animated film called "Flatlife" After we watched the film a couple of times, we started to design our flats on paper. We made our flats out of shoeboxes and we used various types of materials such as, wood, pipe cleaners, wallpaper, lolly pop sticks and tissue paper. Mr.Williams helped us use the hot glue gun to stick everything down. Making the flats were very fun and we would like to do it again. Here are some of the finished flats.

Kielder Close Visit
Hello All,
This week 6W had the opportunity to visit the residents of Kielder Close Day Centre. While we were there we had the chance to ask the residents about their experiences during World War 2. The children learnt so much about that time in history, including hearing stories of evacuation and also being able to handle items from that time in history...including toys, cameras, irons and even a real life ration book!

Sensational Science
On Tuesday 11th of October year 6 had the chance to do a fun lesson all to do with science. This activity was all about reversible and irrevirsible changes. Firstly the children had to make a mixture of the resources outside (e.g. water, grass, soil and stones etc), secondly year6 were divided into 2 groups, one group stayed with Mr Williams while the other group stayed with Mrs O'Connor.
We then investigated what was the best way to seperate the materials. Take a look at the pictures above!

Hello All,
Today, year 6 visited Hainault Forest High School for a Team Sports Day. We got the chance to use the main sports hall and be taught by Hainault High PE teachers. We took part in a variety of team building games and worked together in groups to achieve our goals. We had an excellent day and are looking forward to going back to Hainault Forest High very soon!

Team Building!
As part of our Ready to Learn topic, we were very lucky to get a visit from Neil and Rob and they taught us all about team work and how important it is to succeed. Take a look at these pictures. We had to work as a team to get from one side of an acid awamp to the other, with only tyres and each other to succeed!

Year 6!
Welcome Back,
Can I begin by welcoming back our new Year 6 children. I feel that this will be an exciting time for all, children and teachers included! Year 6 is full of amazing opportunities which we are sure we will enjoy and learn so much from. As I have said many times already to the class, they are now the oldest children in the school and I am sure that they will be fantastic role models to the rest of John Bramston Primary School. This is an important responsibility and one which I know they will take very seriously.
We begin the term with our 'Ready to Learn' topic which explores the different ways in which we learn and what helps us to learn effectively. This year will be full of learning and the children will take many happy memories and great experiences away with them when they move on to secondary school.
I hope you all had a great summer break. Mr Williams spent some time in Berlin and York and I am now fully rested and ready for a new challenge in year 6!
Mr Williams.
